TITA TALKS WITH ELISABETTA "BETTA" CARACCIA. This episode of Tita Talks, features Betta, a Mother of 3, anthropologists, environmentalist and advocate of social awareness and global consciousness. As a valued member of the Advisory Council of the Ibiza Preservation Fund she keeps busy to preserve Ibiza and Formentera’s exceptional beauty and nature. Recently Betta lost her life partner Ray Stevenson (25 May 1964-21 May 2023), the worldwide renowned actor who performed in the iconic Star Wars series Ahsoka portraying Baylan Skoll, and also portrayed two Marvel Comics characters Frank Castle / The Punisher in Punisher: War Zone (2008) and The Super Hero Squad Show and Volstagg in the Marvel Cinematic Universe (2011–2017), and more. They met when Ray was in Rome, Italy while portraying Titus Pullo in the BBC/HBO hit television series Rome (2005–2007). Betta and Ray loved to travel extensively. Yet, during the COVID-19 Pandemic they spent more time in their home in Ibiza, Spain surrounded by the sea and sunshine. However, prior to returning to filming, Ray had caught Covid and his health was never quite the same and he passed away on May 21, 2023. In 2021, Betta and Ray founded La Curandera de Salinas in Ibiza, Spain. Betta and I discuss how Betta has been working toward healing her heart and home since Ray perished unexpectedly and the importance of selfcare practices that support resiliency and strength. She started her journey at Sotheby’s New York where she was the Director of Public Programs and created educational experiences for collectors in art, fashion, jewelry and more. After Sothebys Jessica then established her own business called Arts to Life which expanded her original Sotheby’s programs from North America to taking collectors and cultural enthusiast to countries around the world and showing them through art the past-taking them on an historical journey and promoting craftsmen, artisans and luxury trades that preexisted from 19th Century England, France, Italy and Portugal to the present. Most recently after living in South Africa for 3 years, Jessica has focused on Contemporary African Art and currently, she is hopeful and excited to be working with a NFT Gallery in London which just opened a gallery space in New York City. Over the past two decades, Dr. Negi has been a pioneer of compassion training programs for adults and children. He was born in Kinnaur, in northern India near Tibet which is known as “The Land of Apples and Gods” because of its natural beauty. Dr. Negi is a former monk, who began his monastic training at The Institute of Buddhist Dialectics in Dharamasala, and continued his education at Drepung Loseling Monastery in South India, where in 1994 he received the Geshe Lharampa degree. In 1999, he completed his Ph.D. at Emory University. Huma was born, in Kalamazoo, Michigan. Yet, grew up in a multi-cultural background with Indian and Pakistani parents. Her Mom, Saleha Mahmood Abedin, and Dad, Syed Zainul Abedin were intellectuals who focused upon and instilled values that would later guide Huma to have the resilience and strength to navigate challenging times. Today she resides in NYC, and is surrounded by family love including her Mom, her sisters Heba and Hadeel, her brother Hassan, and her son Jordan. Huma just completed her first book BOTH/ AND that is already a NEW YORK TIMES Best Seller, among the top audio books, and on Oprah’s favorites list. He is the son of actress Sophia Loren, producer Carlo Ponti, Sr. (December 11, 1912 - January 10, 2007), the brother of conductor Carlo Ponti, and married to Sasha Alexander, an American actress - they have two children - a 15 year old daughter named Lucia and 10 year old son named Leonardo. In his twenty year career, Edoardo directed a number of award winning films and plays. Recently, he wrote and directed the must see 2021 Golden Globe Awards nominated film, The Life Ahead that can be viewed on Netflix.
